Many of our customers are not as familiar as they would like to be in selecting a sheepskin rug. Therefore deciding on which size to purchase can be difficult. We hope to offer some explanation to how to choose the sheepskin rug to best suit your needs and space.
Most often you will find sheepskin rugs offered in sizes by the number of pelts used, from a single pelt up to eight pelts in size. Rule of thumb is that a single pelt is approximately 2 feet x 3 feet. When you see additional pelts in the product name, then you can add up to the size that you can expect to receive. To make it easier on you, here is a comparison chart of the products we offer and some comments about the size
| Rug |
Approximate Size |
Features |
| Single Pelt Rug |
2' X 3' |
Standard single pelt size. This is the perfect rug for stepping out of bed or laying down in the bathroom to warm up cold tile. |
| Double Pelt Rugs |
2' X 6' |
Doubles are singles sewn together end to end. This size is a popular seller and is used as a throw rug, in front of the fire (sheepskin is fire retardant!) or at the end of the bed. |
| 4 Piece Rug |
4' X 6' |
Also called quad or quarto, these rugs are four pelts pieced together side by side and end to end. This rug size is one of our most popular sellers since it most closely resembles a standard rug size. |
| 6 Piece Rug |
6' X 6 |
Also called sexto, this rug is the perfect chose for those needing a square rug. |
| 8 Piece Rug |
6' X 7.5' |
Also called an octo, this size looks spectacular in a large room and brings a lot of warmth to a big open space. |
